Today as will undoubtedly be through the British Commonwealth and some other nations, Remembrance Sunday. The Sunday prior to the 11th November, a day burned into all our minds and hearts of that war, a war to end all wars it was said, something that should never be allowed to happen again (yet a few years later it did). Today is the Remembrance Sunday prior to Armistice Day, the end of the first world war.

Kinja'd!!!

They shall grow not old

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

From Laurence Binyon’s poem For the Fallen , written in September 1914

I’ve got two grand uncles buried in Northern France.

I’m sorry to hear that.

Have you been over to see their graves?

The war memorial commission and locals have done a great job over the years tending to the graves and repairing where needed.

Indeed. I am the official bugler of note at the ceremony in a neighbourhood called Nepean. We will never forget those brave men and women who fought for us.

Yes, one. I did a search for the location and it took.............about a minute including downloading a map of the graveyard and the plot number. The wonders of this internet thing.
